Interdisciplinary lesson on FA and BZO on the topic “The Eye - the Most Perfect Optical Device”
On 21.03.2025, an interdisciplinary lesson on FA and BZO on the topic “The Eye - the Most Perfect Optical Device” was held. The lesson is part of the plan of the Ministry of Education for the 2024/2025 academic year.
The lesson was delivered by Alexander Gutev - a teacher of physics and astronomy and Lyudmila Nikolova - a teacher of biology and ZO.
The students participated in the discussion about the structure and functions of the eye as a perfect optical device, with great optical power and capabilities in the spectrum of electromagnetic waves in the visible region. They applied their knowledge of physics about the optical power of lenses, focal length and image correction in eye anomalies (myopia and hyperopia).
The main educational goal was achieved: the students described the structure of the eye as a perfect optical device and explained functions such as: accommodation, spatial vision, color vision. They understood some of the more important anomalies of the eye such as: hyperopia and myopia and how they can be corrected, taking into account the age characteristics of individuals.
The students themselves checked their vision with the Ishihara tests for the presence of the so-called "color blindness".
